New Jersey Survivors Now Have More Time to Apply for FEMA Assistance
The deadline for New Jersey homeowners and renters to apply for FEMA individual assistance for damage and losses from the remnants of Hurricane Ida has been extended to Dec. 6, 2021.
The extension provides more time for survivors living in counties designated for individual assistance including Bergen, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Union and Warren.

September 6, 2021, President Joe Biden Jr. has approved the New Jersey Disaster Declaration from Tropical Storm Ida. This action makes FEMA Individual Assistance funding available to those affected in Hunterdon County.
Before applying for FEMA Individual Assistance funding, you are encouraged to first photograph and document in detail all damages sustained followed by contacting your insurance company to report those damages.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
Federal assistance is available to eligible individuals and families affected by this disaster

TRENTON, N.J. – If you are a New Jersey resident whose home was damaged by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, FEMA recommends inspecting your heating, ventilation, air conditioning system (HVAC), furnaces, septic systems and/or wells to see if they were affected.
You may be eligible for financial assistance under FEMA's Individuals and Households Program.

Governor Murphy Announces Partnership With Uber and Lyft to Provide Ride Service to Residents Who Lost Transportation as a Result of Tropical Storm Ida. Governor Phil Murphy today announced a partnership with rideshare companies Uber and Lyft in conjunction with United Way Worldwide and NJ 211 to provide access to free and discounted rides to New Jersey residents who lost a personal vehicle as a result of Tropical Storm Ida. Over the next two weeks, New Jersey residents who lost a vehicle and need help accessing essential services can text NJIDARIDE to 898-211 to request a Lyft or Uber ride.
